This is the second part of “Back to the Future,” a photographic series by Irina Werning. The collection includes pictures of different people from their childhood years, and then along side of each image there is a recent snapshot of the same person in the same situation. “Word as Image” is a design project by Ji Lee. The challenge was to “create an image out of a word, using only the letters in the word itself.” The end result is a fascinating exploration of typography and symbology.

Amanda Oakleaf Cakes has built a life-sized stormtrooper cake. The stormtrooper cake stands at 6 feet 4 inches tall, weighed at least 300 lbs, and fed nearly 600 hungry Arisia Sci-Fi Convention attendees. The Stormtrooper cake took Amanda and a team of nine two weeks to design, create and assemble.

Tommy Edison, who’s been blind since birth, shows us how a visually impaired person may cook a meal alone. In this example, Tommy cooks french fries and a hamburger. He uses a toaster oven for the fries and a George Foreman grill for the hamburger.

Illustrator Mike Frederiqo drew Pharrell Williams as one of his favorite cartoon characters, Sponge Bob. Outfitted with a Louis Vuitton backpack, a Billionaire Boys Club Cap and a N*E*R*D belt the Pharrell/Sponge Bob character is seen clutching a pile of Spong Bob toe socks..
